Summary

An internationalization management model was developed in partner institutions to provide appropriate knowledge and means to improve internationalization actions and activities contributing to the sustainability of the international dimension of partner institutions in south neighboring countries. The model aimed at enhancing institutional management processes of internationalization by establishing governance procedures that enhanced internationalization within the university hierarchy of partner institutions, building their capacity, empowering them with references and guidelines aligned with EU practices, and encouraging them to share best practices and develop strong partnerships with EU partners. The model was based on analyses of needs and capacities in partner HEIs and experiences and best practices from EU partner institutions. This led to the production of a set of principles, priorities, guidelines, and procedures to support HEIs in improving the management of internationalization processes at the institutional level.

The project mapped and measured the degree of internationalization in partner universities, identified areas for improvement, set guidelines to establish an appropriate framework for internationalization, and created the required infrastructure for the implementation of a clear internationalization strategy, including virtual tools. It also built the capacity of partner universities on internationalization procedures and disseminated good practices and shared practical experience in benchmarking analysis applied to university international relations.
