Summary
BRIDGES-LAC aimed at consolidating the long term partnership between EU and LAC taking advantage of existing networks/ programmes promoted by the European Commission:
(i) improving LAC students’ access to EU higher education;
(ii) advancing the development of mutual recognition of degrees (on the basis of the Diploma Supplement requirements) and qualifications (within the European qualification framework initiative);
(iii) increasing the international dimension of quality assurance for HE;
(iv) contributing to the interdisciplinary policy debate in furtherance of increased participation and mutual understanding among different stakeholders of both regions; and
(v) ensuring sustainable means of multiplying and disseminating successful experiences of EU-LAC joint actions in the areas of HE and Research;.
BRIDGES-LAC was intended to contribute to the development of the Common Area of Higher Education ALCUE and seeked the active participation of EU & LAC HE Institutions as well as academic staff, policy makers, managers and administrators. Its multiplying effect had benefit HE inspectors, EU and LAC HE Advisors and Counsellors and the Research community in both regions as well.
