Summary

As a first support of the European cooperation in the implementation of DTT in Colombia, the Financing Agreement DCI-ALA/2010/21810 was signed between the Republic of Colombia and the European Union (June 2010); giving life to the project “Support for the implementation of the DVB standard in Colombia”, where the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication (ICT Ministry) is the Beneficiary, in dialogue with other entities of the sector, mainly the National Television Commission (CNTV). The project aims to support the Colombian Government, with specialized technical advice, in the definition and development of the necessary actions for the migration from analog TV to digital TV, especially on issues related to regulation, digital content industry and electromagnetic spectrum.

To contribute to the achievement of the proposed goals, the European Union has contracted international technical assistance services to the consortium University of Barcelona-RETEVISIÓN / Abertis Telecom, which leads the company designated in the first place.
