Summary

The project aimed to contribute to the modernization of higher education management and governance in Tunisia by strengthening quality assurance mechanisms for university education and financial management, as well as optimizing resource management. Higher education systems, both in Europe and the southern Mediterranean, including Tunisia, are increasingly expected to contribute to the competitiveness of their economies while fulfilling their missions of knowledge production for regional and national socio-economic growth and development. To achieve this, universities need to innovate to provide the type of education that will enhance the employability of their graduates.

In this context, the restructuring of the higher education system, particularly university governance, is a priority at both the institutional level of Tunisian universities and nationally for various personnel bodies, leaders, and society as a whole. These priorities were highlighted during the survey conducted for the preparation of this project.
